Can you tell I’m excited for spring??? Yes, it’s about time! I feel like doing the Chocolate Dance that Shawn and Gus do in the Pysch (just change it to the Spring Dance!), I’m just so excited to have SPRING! Spring is one of my favorite seasons. Even though the calendar said spring started on March 20th, nope not around here. It was far from it. It did not feel like spring or look like it. We were still getting snow showers in March and April (yes it snowed on April 15th right after we finished an Open House for our daughter’s upcoming wedding🤦♀️). Plus the days were still gloomy and yucky and it took forever to see the ground because the snow needed to melt. I can now step outside and finally see the ground (dirt for us, no grass yet) and feel the warmth of the sun. I love it!!
Signs of Spring
I love looking for the signs of spring and I was thrilled when I finally started to see tiny specs of green popping up and on the side of the roads. Then grass started to turn green in neighbor’s yards. Now as I walk, I see buds on the trees and the birds chirping away. Is just awesome to finally have the signs of spring.
Spring is the new beginning. It’s time for the dark and dreary winter months to go away and allow the sunny days to take over. The evenings are even nice to be outside in. I can just stroll though our property and just be in the moment and not let the others cares of the world bother me. Fresh air rocks!
Season of Planting
Spring also means I, or should I say, we have lots of work to do outside. I’m not going to be the only one working outside, we all get to help. Oh boy, since my mom passed, I now get to be the one planting flowers. I am not a flower/plant person, in fact just shopping for them when I was little was torture. I killed so many plants she gave me and it wasn’t on purpose. Trust me, I tried, I really did, I just could not get them to stay alive. Not all plants or flowers died, but the majority of them did. I have pictures of some I kept alive for awhile and I still have one she gave me before she died that is still alive. She had the green thumb in the family and I just did not inherit it. Hopefully that changes. I have a few things that I would like to get planted, so lets just see how it goes.
Not only is it planting flowers season, but we are also be planting a huge garden down at Aunt T and Uncle D’s place. We are guessing it is close to an acre in size. So when I say huge, I mean huge! Just last week, we got the ground tilled. We are waiting for our vegetables to arrive. They should be arriving any day. This should be an interesting project. We have planted square foot gardens in the city, but this will be different. This is going to be gigantic, so you’ll need to check back and see what we got ourselves into.
