In the last several weeks we have felt like we lived in Narnia (yes, like the fantasy world in the book series The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis). We have awakened to the most beautiful site, the trees are white and anything else you see is white. Since the ground is covered with snow from the 2 severe snowstorms (and possibly more snow this weekend 😞), it is even more white with the frost. Every tree we can see is covered with thick frost. Anything exposed to the cold, frosty temperatures turn a delightful white (I love seeing pure white snow, it’s just calming!) instead of looking dreary and dead. Even our Christmas wreaths that are still hanging are gorgeous to see. The site is just breathtaking.

Are we in Narnia?
Welcome to our Narnia

I cannot think of a time in my life that I felt like I was in the magical place of Narnia. This daily site will happen several days in a row, then it would warm up enough and melt. Then a couple of days later, it returns, and it was just as beautiful as before.

This amazing view was never seen in the city. We never had temperatures cold enough to bring this Narnia feeling to the city. To see everything white as white was only something I would see in a movie while living in the city. Now, I experience this spectacular delight firsthand.

Now, there is one downfall to have these mesmerizing mornings. The fog. To have such a beautiful site, we have fog that is unbelievably thick. Some days this fog lingers around until late morning and makes everything feel extremely cold. Plus, this dense fog creates a hazard for driving. Just driving a few tenths of a mile is difficult to drive in when this fog rolls in. I’m grateful that my husband has been safe each morning he traveled to work in these conditions.

Narnia vs the City

These white covered morning are breathtaking and peaceful. I thoroughly enjoy waking up and seeing frost sticking to everything. But I also like waking up when the sun has risen too. This leads me to some questions

1) Would I rather have these peaceful mornings or have the crazy traffic on a busy morning?

2) Would I rather have colder winters or really humid summers?

I think I’ll stick to these white, breathtaking, peaceful mornings and cold winters. Why? I am not a fan of crazy city drivers and dealing with high humidity for days is just awful. All four pregnancy I had were when we lived where the humidity was terrible at times and it was enough for me. Looking out my windows to see everything look so Narnia like is much more enjoyable! Plus I can enjoy my cup of hot chocolate while I’m admiring all the beauty!

Even though I love my hot chocolate and beautiful white mornings, it is time for more color than white. I would really like to see the green grass and the sunshine ☀️ since we are technically in spring. Today was the first day in weeks, that I opened my curtains and saw the sun shining brightly instead of the gloomy clouds.

I hope and pray the storm this weekend will finally be the last we see and all the snow will disappear rapidly 🤞. We have a daughter getting married in a few weeks and her future in laws are from AZ, so it really needs to warm up for the open house!
